Podcast Interview with R. Christian Minson

There has never been a better time to breathe…

I had the opportunity to interview one of the country’s foremost breathing teachers, R. Christian Minson. Christian was a monk for ten years and now works as a transformational breath teacher. He says that every emotion has a corresponding breath pattern. Profound.

Since the interview, I’ve noticed that whenever I’m subconsciously stressed and not even aware that I’m carrying a concern or worry, I tend to hold my breath! Not for an extended period of time but long enough for my body to release more stress hormones, which feeds a downward spiral that could easily be reversed through proper breathing!

An Interview with Adrian Bejan

I had the opportunity to interview Adrian Bejan who is the father of the constructal law, otherwise known as the physics of life. This is the law of flow that animates all of nature, including us.

Professor Bejan is a modern-day Einstein and interviewing him was a pleasure indeed.

Self-forgiveness and Healing

I don’t know anyone who’s not reeling from the heaviness of 2020. It’s a time of intense transformation to be sure. I see it as a crumbling of what no longer works and an opportunity to create a better world. We all have a part in elevating society but it’s hart to rise up if we’re carrying a heavy emotional load. Self-forgiveness is key. Once we forgive ourselves, we can boldly do our part in putting eh pieces if our society back together.

Today I spontaneously recorded a podcast episode on self-forgiveness and healing. You can listen here or any podcast platform that you like.

The Bright Side of Transformation

Accelerated change is our new normal. The transformation that we are currently experiencing goes way beyond quarantine—life as we know it is changing and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. So how do we keep our center amid transformation?

The first step is to understand the nature of transformation and its essential function to keep life flowing. For any aspect of nature to exist over time, it must go through periodic transformations where the old is replaced by the new.

There are two types of transformation: organic and forced. Organic transformation is the natural unfolding of one of the landscapes of your life (relationships, job, habits) based on persistent effort and what I like to think of as radical authenticity. In other words, you show up as the most honest version of yourself and life unfolds accordingly. We delay transformation every time we engage in excessive people-pleasing while silencing ourselves. We also avoid or delay organic transformation when we procrastinate instead of doing what we know we know we need to do to move our lives forward.

Forced transformation, on the other hand, occurs when one of the landscapes of your life is abruptly destroyed or taken away. In this case, the energy that was previously expressed into that landscape has nowhere to go. When this happens, we feel a little lost, like, “what do I do now?”

The Coronavirus has led society into a forced transformation. Almost everyone has experienced the abrupt closure of at least one landscape in their life. Even those who are still working can no longer go to restaurants or the gym. There may be close relationships that are experiencing social distancing. What do we do with this energy that was previously flowing into these areas?

Here’s where we get to the bright side of transformation. In the case of the abrupt closure of one or more landscapes in your life, you are gifted with the time, energy and perspective to evaluate how fulfilling that landscape (relationship, job, habit) was.  Fulfillment is the direct result of flow. If in retrospect, a particular landscape was not fulfilling, you might want to take a look at where it wasn’t flowing. Did you feel safe enough to show up as the most authentic version of yourself? Was there a dysfunctional dynamic that prevented you from speaking your truth? Was the habit adding value to your life or simply you behaving on autopilot?

When you evaluate your life from this elevated perspective, you have an opportunity to redirect your energy toward organic transformation and carve out new landscapes that not only fulfill you but lead to increased purpose and flow in all areas of your life.

Episode 6: The Fear Virus

There is something called forced transformation. When a person or society ignores themselves for too long the energy of life that has been speaking in that still small voice erupts and shoves us against the wall. What we are going through is a mass reorganization orchestrated by life. In my last podcast episode, I talk about the silver lining of this societal shutdown. Now is our time to be still. To listen. To honor ourselves at a deeper level. And to honor each other. It’s our time to see how the sky clears up when we don’t drive as much. A time to allow our own creative juices to percolate to the surface and drive our lives forward in a way that’s meaningful.

Episode 4: Power in the New World

We have entered a new world—one that is highly connected, accelerated and transparent. And the rules of the game are changing right before our eyes.

Each of us has to decide for ourselves how we want to power our lives forward, but in a world permanently on fast forward, those who choose flow power are those who will rise to the top.

Flow is the power current of the new world. Jeremy Heimans and Henry Timms released a great book in 2018 called New Power. The book contrasts current-based power with currency-based power. The authors are focused on the use of social media to move society forward but the metaphors of current and currency apply to individuals as well.

Current-based power is grounded in science and embedded in all of nature. If we examine the laws of physics, biology, and electricity, we will find that each relies on flowing currents rather than an exchange of currency. Nature is powerful because of the currents running through it and we are no different.

Here are the new laws of power:

1.    Sustainable power is generated not consumed

2.    Energy is required for flow and flow is the source of power

3.    Purpose-driven contribution keeps us in the flow cycle

4.    Flow = Energy + Mastery

5.    What we give is what we receive

Love big and you are love. Create powerfully and you are a powerful creator. Practice your craft and mastery will carry you forward. Power in the new world flows from the inside-out not the outside-in.

Sure, we can choose to consume, buy or manipulate our way into a position of power but our transparent and accelerated world can strip it way in a nanosecond, which leaves us shivering on the inside and puffed up on the outside.

In short, power in the new world belongs to lovers, creators and those who persist in moving toward mastery. What we create can never be taken away. Life is a process and every moment holds an opportunity to generate something meaningful.

Episode 2: The Power of Vibrational Choice

We live in a sea of energy where all vibrations exist simultaneously. We get to choose what to tune into the same way we get to choose what station to listen to on the radio. This episode explores three ways to raise our vibe, especially when we’ve caught someone else’s negativity or feel stuck in lower vibrational energy.

High Vibrational Life Podcast Launch

Hello,

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my new podcast: High Vibrational Life. This first episode is about what it means to live a high vibrational life. Here is an excerpt:

Let’s talk about what it means to live a high vibrational life. We live in a sea of energy–everything has a vibration–and we’re becoming increasingly sensitive to the vibrations around us. It’s almost like words don’t mean anything. If a person has a shady vibe or a low vibe or a heavy vibe, we respond to that. We can feel it on the inside, and it’s important that we do. Because as life continues to speed up, vibration is going to become our primary language. It’s not going to be English, it’s not going to be Spanish, it’s not going to be Japanese. It’s going to be the language of vibration. So it’s really important that we we trust ourselves as we’re tuning into vibration and that we show up to our lives and to the people in our lives as the most high vibrational person that we can be.

Beliefs are Contagious

What if you could see a picture of your psyche? What would it contain? Of course, there would be the tip of the iceberg stuff – the aspects of yourself that you are aware of – but what if you were able to see all of the beliefs that you’ve unknowingly “caught” over the course of your lifetime?

These beliefs are called memes. We typically think of a meme as an funny image that goes viral, but a meme is defined as an idea or belief that is transmitted from person to person in a non-genetic way. In other words, we catch memes the way we catch colds.

Imagine seeing all of these unconscious memes floating around in your mind/body that you had no idea existed. There might be one from your first grade teacher stating that you are “slow.” Or perhaps you ingested a meme from your parents that you are difficult, hyper or stubborn.

We all have an unbelievable amount of unconscious memes driving our behavior, but it is possible to uncover these beliefs and excavate them from psyche? How do you do that? You pay attention. You become aware of what you are thinking and ask yourself, “Where did THAT come from?”

You may or may not be able to identify the source of a particular meme, as we can catch these nasty critters from just about anywhere. They are transmitted energetically. That means if someone believes something about you and never says a word about it, you can still catch the belief! We are also vulnerable to misguided beliefs floating around in society about power, money, looks and self-worth.

Simply watch yourself. Listen to what you say. Tune in to your own thought frequencies and see if they are in line with your true self or not. One by one, you can say, “You no longer belong here…” If you shine the light of awareness on a psychic meme and challenge its validity, it will lose power and start to diminish.

Finally, start acting a different way. We teach ourselves who we are with every word that is spoken and every action that is taken. Fake it ’til you make it is not just a fun saying. It’s real. If you change your words and behaviors, the memes that no longer have a vibrationally hospitable place to live, will scatter.

The choice to be who you really are is yours! It takes energy to have extreme awareness and change thinking and behaviors but after a while your real self takes over and momentum kicks in.

This process takes time but is well worth it. Inherited memes block a free flowing spirit. Every one of these false beliefs that you release gives you more energy to create a life that is aligned with your true nature. As always, if you have any questions or want to chat about this, send me an email at kk@kimberlykingsley.com.

Godspeed!!
